Ode to the Nintendo Gamecube

I want to share my love for the Gamecube with the world! Despite being a commercial failure, it had a lot of great properties. Perhaps I can give you some insight into why the system did not fair as well as it's sixth generation rivals and other Nintendo consoles.

  1. i really liked this review, especially since you pointed out the awesome Z button Easter egg.

You said the wii made the Game cube obsolete, which you would be right if you hadn't of missed the greatest thing for the Gamecube... The gameboy player! Cannot believe you didn't mention it. Gameboy advanced games on your tv? Golden Sun playing on your set like an old Snes RPG? The gameboy player is the only reason now to own a gamecube, but still i like the review. If you don't have a Gameboy player, it's awesome and looks very nice on the gamecube itself.

  2. You say the GameCube was a commercial failure...why? Even though it finished a distant third in the marketplace, Nintendo actually made money from the system. Nintendo is well known for releasing hardware that they make a profit on from day 1, the GameCube is no exception.

  4. When you attach a Game Boy Player to your GameCube, it actually becomes a cube... sort of. Playing Game Boy games is also something the Wii can't do, for which function I still use my Cube from time to time.

Mario Sunshine, the Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Double Dash!!, Tales of Symphonia, the Thousand-Year Door and Melee are, in my opinion, the best games of their series so far. I see the GameCube as the second golden Nintendo era, the first being Super Nintendo with its overwhelming library of outstanding action platformers in glorious 16-bit form.

And the controller is just stellar. I especially like the L and R buttons, the potential of which surprisingly many games utilise.

You also have the sweetest voice, which I'm sure you've heard a million times.
